3-1 Quick Graphs Using Intercepts Goal: Use x and y intercepts to draw a graph. Eligible Content: A1.2.1.2.1 / A1.2.1.2.2

Steps: Find the x and y intercepts (just like yesterday). Plot the two intercepts on a graph. Draw a line through the two points.

5x + 2y = 20 x-intercept 5x + 2•0 = 20 5x = 20 x = 4 (4,0) y-intercept (0,10)

Examples Graph each equation using the x and y intercepts 6x – 2y = 12 y = 3x – 9 y = -2x + 8

Is this the correct graph for 2x + 5y = 10? yes no

Practice on Whiteboards! Graph each equation using the intercepts 4x + 3y = 24 -2x + 7y = -14 5x – 8y = 32 y = 4x – 8 y = -3x + 3
