©2018 Patient Best, LLC www.PatientBest.com 800-914-1625 HEALTHCARE How does this effect you? Well med mistakes are the #3 of death It always bewildered me why the government wants to give us health care? Why if it’s going to do this.? Why do other places have better care? My friend had her baby in Europe. And one day she went for her monthly check up and the doctor said, Where’s your chart? She left it at home? And her doctor said, go home and get it. I will not see you without it. Doctors do not keep charts. Point being, patients have to be responsible for their charts, the accuracy. Heart and cancer are #1 and 2 This is even ahead of respiratory Tell story of how 259,000 people die each year People don’t think it will ever happen to them Well, this is a low number…. Tell story of friend with testicular cancer, misdiagnosed with prostate cancer. Died due to medical error but his death certificate said “cancer” I see these mistakes everyday. It doesn’t make us providers bad people. It just a system of confusion and miscommunications. ©2018 Patient Best, LLC www.PatientBest.com 800-914-1625

Let’s prevent that disease Let’s not miss a disease PREVENTION Let’s prevent that disease Let’s not miss a disease Family history tells your provider exactly what to look for later and to keep an eye out for it. We all know patients who have had colon cancer and yet family members refuse to get a colonoscopy, an easy procedure which saves lives Mammorgrams are the same way Also included is diabetes, because family member tend to get them High blood pressure tends to run in familys You cannot pick your family Have that discuusion Also, a word of caution here, all men and women go through changes I life. Women go through menopaude and men through andropaude. Check with your parents aunts and uncles and see how their life changes affected them. It may make your transition easier. If there are mental issues in the family, those need to be addressed as well. Do tell your provider about them. Although “this would never happen to you” syndrome, it is important for your provider to know how your relatives are being treated successful. For example, depression is a wide spread disease. Many family members have certain antidepressive meds that work well for them. There is grief dicorce, loss of a child, parent, job stress or changes which bring on periods in a persons life when they need “something” to get by for a while. Think about what your reliatives are taking successfully. That may very well be the first drug you should ask your provider about when discussing a brief need for something to get you over your stress level for a few months. ©2018 Patient Best, LLC www.PatientBest.com 800-914-1625
