. 17/01/2019 Team: Physical rating: Hard Date: Session: 2 on 2 on 2 game (15 mins) Organisation: 3 teams of 2 or 3 players per team play a game. To start with each team attacks the goal to the left of their defending goal. IE. Black circles score through white circles goal, and white circle scores in the coloured circles goal. Goals are positioned so the playing field looks like a triangle, the distance between goals is dependant on the amount of players on each team. For 2 players per team the distance between each goal should be 15-20 metres or so greater for more players. Width of the goals should be larger than two people can defend. After a team scores the team who was scored on gains possession of the ball Rules: Normal Hockey Rules Apply, except that you cannot “goal tend”, defending teams must co-operate in defence (i.e.. Leave their goal unattended as they help out the other team to dispossess the ball carrying team) but as soon as possession changes the teams must cease there co-operation and form a new co-defensive unit with the team that has just lost possession. There are no out of bounds, and you can score through the goals in both directions as in forwards and backwards. Coaching Points: This game doesn’t work when teams don’t co-operate in defence, no matter which team has the ball it should be 2 on 4 effectively. This game requires huge work-rate off the ball when your team-mate has possession. Teams must try to score and eliminate but also lead into good penetrating positions. The aim of the game is to work out how 2 attackers can beat 4 defenders, the answer is either with fantastic eliminating skills or more realistically 3 touch hockey, get, give and lead to get it back and repeat the process to goal. Progressions: After 5 mins or so change the rule so that you may score in either teams goal but still have to co-operate in defence with no goaltending your own goal, you must engage the ball carriers at all times to recover possession .
