Real Life Integers Real Life Integers Integers are positive and negative whole numbers. They are used in every part of our daily lives. Below is an example of how integers are used in different ways. Real Life Integers Business and Account Healthy Lifestyle Sports Temperature 17/01/2019 Created by J. Mills-Dadson

Integers – Business and Account Bank accounts are either credited (deposit) or debited (withdrawal). If one has sufficient amount it is represented with a positive number ( to the nearest pound) and negative, if one overdraws. Businesses also use positive numbers to depicts profit at the end of the year and when there is a loss, it is represented with a negative value. 17/01/2019 Created by J. Mills-Dadson

Integers – Temperature Temperature is always represented using integers and it tells us how warm or cold the weather is going to be. Temperature above zero degrees Celsius are represented with positive values and temperatures below zero degrees Celsius including very cold conditions are displayed with negative values. 17/01/2019 Created by J. Mills-Dadson

Integers – Healthy Lifestyle To maintain one’s weight, one has to be mindful of the type of food and the calories intake. Calories intake could be represented with positive values and when one exercises, one burns calories and that could be represented by negative values. 17/01/2019 Created by J. Mills-Dadson

Goals in games are recorded using positive values. Integers – Sports Goals in games are recorded using positive values. Negative values are commonly seen in sports as well.  Consider hockey.  Each line of players records a plus or minus.  If the other team scores on your line, that is a minus.  If someone on your line scores a goal, that is a plus.  If neither team scores, the result is zero. 17/01/2019 Created by J.
