Factors affecting the success of human blastocyst development and pregnancy following in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer 1  Gayle M Jones, Ph.D., Alan O Trounson, Ph.D., Nick Lolatgis, M.B.B.S., Carl Wood, M.B.B.S.  Fertility and Sterility  Volume 70, Issue 6, Pages 1022-1029 (December 1998) DOI: 10.1016/S0015-0282(98)00342-2

FIGURE 1 Logistic regression analysis revealed factors that had no significant influence on the pregnancy outcome after blastocyst transfer. For the purposes of illustration the data are grouped, but for statistical analysis the data are analyzed as discrete data points. (A), Maternal age has no significant influence on pregnancy outcome at least up to the age of 40 years. (B), The number of previous IVF cycles has no significant influence on the pregnancy outcome. Twenty-five percent of patients had experienced more than three cycles of IVF treatment, but this did not effect their chance of implantation and pregnancy in their first attempt at blastocyst transfer. (C), Etiology of infertility has no significant influence on pregnancy outcome, despite the fact that male factor as the sole cause of the couple’s infertility significantly decreased the numbers of blastocysts available for transfer.
