Key Concept: Communities Related Concepts: Composition Key Concept: Communities Global Context: Scientific and Technical Innovation Grade 7 Unit 1: Inspiration of two artists – a beginning to our journey Statement of Inquiry - As a community of learners we need a common subject specific language to discuss our work and share ideas. KUDs Know – how to accurately describe and match Hue, Value and Intensity of Colour. Know the elements and principles of Art. Understand – How to apply these in your own Art work. Do – Undertake practical exploration of colour, use photography to illustrate our understanding of the elements and principles of Art, investigate the work of Diebenkorn and Doig, and sythensize these in a conclusive painting. Inquiry Questions: Factual how has the development of artist pigments changed art production over time? Conceptual what is the relationship between technical/scientific innovation and visual art? Debatable is it necessary for artists to master conventions before they innovate?
