Year 3 – Courtesy and Integrity classes Light and Shadows Year 3 – Courtesy and Integrity classes

In Term 4 we have been learning all about light and shadows

What is light. Where do shadows come from. How do we see things What is light? Where do shadows come from? How do we see things? There are so many questions!

We found out that a SOURCE of light is where the light comes from We found out that a SOURCE of light is where the light comes from. These are all SOURCES of light.

Some things seem to give off light, but they are just REFLECTING light Some things seem to give off light, but they are just REFLECTING light. These things all REFLECT light.

We have made a display about light in our classroom.

We read the story Moonbear’s Shadow by Frank Asch It tells the tale of a bear who wants to go fishing, but his shadow scares the fish away. He then sets out to try to capture his shadow! He even tries to nail it to the ground! We thought that part was funny!

We learned the story by making story maps and then performed it with actions. The children enjoyed doing this very much!

We looked for shadows around our school. We looked inside and outside.

We decided to make a shadow puppet show! First we decided which story to perform – we chose the story of the Three Little Pigs. Then we set about making the puppets. We used black card, chalk, scissors, drinking straws and sticky tape. We worked hard!

Here we are making our puppets.

Then we performed our shows to the rest of year 3 Then we performed our shows to the rest of year 3. The show was really good!

Have we made you think about light and shadows? We hope you are enjoying your learning at Bakoteh School. Goodbye from Year 3. We hope to hear back from you soon!
