Instead, in groups, you will perform a close reading of a scene. ASSIGNMENT We will NOT read Act IV. Instead, in groups, you will perform a close reading of a scene. You will evaluate the more important elements of a scene including plot, tone, and movement, and “shrink” your scene. Groups will perform their scenes and hand in completed prompt book (edited/annotated scene)for the teacher to assess.
Read through your scene as a group and discuss options for where cuts could occur. Your final scene should be 50 lines. Some questions to consider: Is the storyline still clear? Are there any key words/phrases that must be retained? What does the audience HAVE to know? Does the scene still make logical sense after the cuts?
You must Add the following to your “shrunken” scene: A combination of five tone words, stage movements, and stage business to the prompt book. At least one costume change (a hat, a scarf, etc.) At least one prop A minimum of five of Shakespeare’s original lines
Add two of the following a moment of laughter, a moment of crying a ten second pause a whisper a line spoken directly to the audience a line spoken chorally. Add two of the following
