Buccaneers SAIL Safe Accountable In Control Lead by Example

How many kindnesses have you witnessed? Remember to record all kind acts on your Rachel’s Challenge Posters. Submit your totals to Mrs. Cutright. Submit some especially wonderful kindnesses to your counselors! Maybe it will be entered into the next Kindness Kart event!

Welcome to red ribbon week! My future matters, I’m drug free!

Food drive ends October 28. I “can”, You “can”, we all “can”! Be sure to count each donated item~ the winning homeroom teacher will receive a free period while the counselors do a fun activity with your class.

Now it is time to think about your goals. Get out your journals. Write down what you want to be when you grow up. Where do you want to live? What do you want your life to be like? Do you want to become a parent someday? Share some of your dreams & goals with the group.

We are going to put an unexpected spin on your future. We know that reaching your goals will be a challenge. We also know that if you begin using drugs, achieving your goals will be harder. The following slides will give you different scenarios to see how your life can drastically change when you allow drug use into your life. Add your scenario to your journal. write about how the scenarios will change the work you will have to do to achieve your goals.

Stand if your birthday is between January - march These students are well on their way towards reaching their goals! But, in 12th grade, you are in a car accident that causes a serious back injury. In spite of getting the right medical help, You end up hooked on pain pills. What will happen with your education? Family? Work? Goals? Journal - what will happen to you?

Stand if your birthday is between april - june You have been doing great in life! Until… In 11th grade, your “friend” hid marijuana in your locker. It is found during a random drug search at B-Uhs. When you are called to the office, your parents are already there. What will happen with your education? Family? Work? Goals? Journal - what will happen to you?

Stand if your birthday is between july - september You have made healthy choices and really taken steps to reach your goals! But then, After Graduation, you are out celebrating with your friends. You made it! You think it will be fun to experiment with some drugs. You are with your friends, you will watch out for each other. Everything will be fine, right? Several days later, you have an interview (for a job or the college of your dreams). You are required to take a drug test, and obviously, you fail it. What will happen with your education? Family? Work? Goals? Journal - what will happen to you?

Stand if your birthday is between October - December Your teachers and parents are so proud of the person you are becoming! But then you create a problem… You have your first car – a huge deal! You go out to celebrate with your friends and have a few drinks. AND… you earn a dui on the way home. You are 18 so you go to jail. What will happen with your education? Family? Work? Goals? Journal - what will happen to you?

Take a moment for everyone to write Pair up with a person who has a different scenario. Share your ideas of how your involvement in drugs will negatively effect your life.
