Listen and follow instructions. OLDE TOWNE MIDDLE SCHOOL 2018-2019 Sixth grade Science FOLLOW THE R U L E S Ms. MaKesha Page Room: D114 School Phone: (601) 898-8730 mpage@madison- schools.com Rule #1 Be prompt and prepared. Rule #2 Show respect. Rule #3 Listen and follow instructions. Rule #4 No horse playing. Rule #5 Put electronics away. You will be expected to develop skills and apply knowledge to solve real-life problems by developing and using models, conducting simple investigations, analyzing and interpreting data, and engaging in scientific arguments based on current evidence. Materials Needed 3-Ring Binder Notebook Dividers Composition Notebook Glue Stick or Tape Post-It Notes Looseleaf Paper Highlighters Pens/Pencils Colored Pencils/Markers Grading Students will receive daily grades based upon individual work as well as through group work. Homework is given nightly and is graded for accuracy, not completion. Minor Grades: Daily assignments such as bell ringers, quick checks, quizzes, classwork, homework, etc. Major Grades: Assessments, Labs, Projects, Interactive Notebook (each 9 weeks), etc. In order to be given the possibility of receiving full credit for an assignment, it must be turned in on time. Late work will be accepted, however, 10 points will be deducted for each day that the assignment is late. I believe that learning can only come from continued practice and growth. “Education is not the learning of facts, but the training of the mind to think.” - Albert Einstein Grading Scale 90 - 100 = A 80 - 89 = B 70 - 79 = C 65 - 69 = D 0 - 64 = F Science Topics Inquiry Living Things Bacteria Animals Plants Fungi Protists Ecology Forces Motion/Energy Newton’s Laws Sun/Moon/Earth Astronomy When students are absent, it is the responsibility of the student to check for work they have missed, and to turn in any absent work within a timely manner. There is a Student Center in the room where information about missing work is placed. Students are also expected to regularly check the class website for assignments. Students will be expected to study science vocabulary and concepts nightly! mIsSiNg WoRk Students will fill out a “No Assignment Form” for all missing work, and will receive a zero for that assignment. If an assignment is turned in late, 10 points will be deducted for each day that the assignment is late. For missed work due to absences, you will be expected to complete and turn in assignments the 2nd day after you return. If the assignment is not turned in on the 2nd day, the grade will default to a zero.
