Babylonia What do we know about Babylonia: About a thousand years after the ancient Sumerians, two new civilizations arose.  Assyrians in northern Mesopotamia.  Babylonia. southern Mesopotamia What do we know about Babylonia: King Hammurabi was a famous Babylonian King. Hammurabi wrote down and unified all the laws of ancient Babylonia . This set of laws, carved in clay, became known as Hammurabi’s Code.
