Homeostasis

Homeostasis is how the body stays in a stable state. If any system of the body is not within normal range, the body will work to make it fit back into that range. What is an homeostasis?

What causes homeostasis? A series of stimulus and responses will trigger homeostasis to begin. Stimulus: Cause Response: Effect What causes homeostasis?

STIMULUS (CAUSE) RESPONSE (EFFECT) INTERNAL STIMULUS A stimulus that comes from inside an organism. EXTERNAL STIMULUS A stimulus that comes from outside an organism.

You feel hungry so you eat some food. STIMULUS (CAUSE) RESPONSE (EFFECT) Hunger Eat some food Internal or External? Internal

You feel cold so you put on a jacket STIMULUS (CAUSE) RESPONSE (EFFECT) Cold Put on jacket Internal or External? External

You feel sick so you throw up. STIMULUS (CAUSE) RESPONSE (EFFECT) Feeling sick Throw Up Internal or External? Internal

Processing Questions: WRITE THE QUESTION. It’s too hot outside so you start sweating Which system is maintaining homeostasis? When it is too cold outside you begin to shiver. Which systems are maintaining homeostasis? You just ran 2 miles and you are breathing hard. Which system is maintaining homeostasis?
