What Is The Invitation?

The Invitation No eloquent or flowery oratory. 1 Corinthians 2:1 Not “death bed tales and grave yard yarns.” cf. Acts 2:37; 16:29-30; Acts 24:25 Not determined by the “amens.” Acts 7:51- 53; 13:16-50

The Invitation What, then, is the invitation? Peter told people what to do and why; and the consequences if they did not. (Acts 2:36-41 and Acts 3:13-26; cf. Mark 16:16; Acts 24:25). There is power (Romans 1:16) and terror (2 Corinthians 5:11) in the gospel.

The Invitation What, then, is the invitation? Lead souls to respond to God’s saving grace. Build faith in Christ and in his word. Convict men of sin and tell them of its remedy and retribution. Strongly urge them to obey the direct demands of obedience - faith, repentance, confession, and baptism (Acts 8:12,35-36; 16:32-33). Tell them what awaits them if they do not obey the truth (2 Thessalonians 1:8; Romans 2:6-9; 1 Peter 4:17-18).

The Invitation What, then, is the invitation? Preach the truth. Press it into the hearts of men and lovingly insist that they obey it. Decision! God will give the increase, and you will be pure from the blood of all men.
