Atoms & Elements notes Atoms: building blocks of all elements. Made from protons, neutrons, electrons. Different combinations of protons, neutrons, electrons make different elements.

Molecule: atoms don’t travel alone! 2 or more atoms bonded together Example: H2O= water molecule

Element: the periodic table has 118 known elements. 92 occur naturally. Examples: H= Hydrogen Fe= Iron O= Oxygen

Matter Has mass= kg, g measured on a scale Takes up space= volume (length x width x height) Always moving, made of tiny particles we can’t see (atoms and molecules) ALL matter on Earth is made up of the elements in the periodic table
