Ancient Chinese DRAGONS

dragons were an important part of ancient Chinese daily life. In ancient China, the people believed that dragons were real and powerful. dragons were thought to be wise, caring, and a bit mischievous. dragons were an important part of ancient Chinese daily life. Over time, “The Dragon” became a nickname for China. Teacher Notes:

Dragon did not breathe fire. They had personalities Dragon did not breathe fire. They had personalities. They had magical powers. They could appear and disappear whenever they wanted. They could turn into beasts if they were angry.

Dragons in ancient China were a mix of parts from different animals.   Who are they?

Horns: Deer Neck: Snake Head: Camel Paws: tiger Claws: eagle Ear: Cow Paws: tiger Claws: eagle Scale: Fish ----117 scales total - 81 made up with yang, the good, and 36 made up with yin the bad. This evens out the dragons temper and personality.

Their job in ancient China was to act as guardians.

Water Dragons Legend says …. Water dragons are blue. They guard rivers, rain, wells, and water. They get along well with people. They know how to accept defeat and how to rebuild.
