What skill/talent/knowledge do you have? KEY WORDS Share Entertain Learn New

In this speech you will: Describe/demonstrate/show/explain your skill. Choose a skill/activity that possibly the whole class can participate in. For example… “Many people say that they have no sense of rhythm. However, I guarantee I can change that in just 3 simple steps.” (extend anecdote here…)

First, we’ll need to do a short stretching exercise First, we’ll need to do a short stretching exercise. Let’s stand up, put your arms in front of you, then stretch them outwards, join your hands together, then stretch.

Next, we can sit down, and I would like to ask someone to come to the front to help me please…(optional) So, we want everyone in the class to ‘have rhythm’? Let me show you the next step. Take both hands and make your fists into a ball...like this

We are now going to bang the desk in front of us twice We are now going to bang the desk in front of us twice...like this (DEMONSTRATE 2 ‘bangs’)

Still in the second step, we now want to rest our fists on the table(demonstrate) like this…and now practice the ‘two bangs’ one more time…(demonstrate)....”Excellent”... Keep your fists on the table and now un-clench them (demonstrate) so they are relaxed, like this. For the next step, we are simply going to clap our hands together - once. Like this. (demonstrate)

For the final step, we are now going to put it all together For the final step, we are now going to put it all together. Remember, step 2 2 bangs on the table, followed by a short clap. Watch me for the tempo… DEMONSTRATE…(then do a few times together)

Finally, before I finish, can anyone guess what song it is that we’ve just performed? (ASK A FEW STUDENTS IN THE AUDIENCE…) Well, let me show you very quickly. It was “Queen - We Will Rock You”

You should now end with a suitable conclusion of your own… Remember our basic presentation structure Hook-Intro-Main Body-Conclusion In my example, I did a live demonstration...you can do this style or you can vary it. (PPT etc) Use lots of gestures for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, amounts, movements, audience participation

Tell us why you like this activity. How do you feel when doing it? How did you get interested in it? How is it beneficial to you and why should other people do it too?
