EAB Nominations & Appointments Charter Scope The EAB N&A Committee is responsible for managing the nominations and appointments process of the EAB The EAB N&A Committee shall seek out, and recommend to the EAB, candidates for EAB offices propose, with the concurrence of the EAB, candidates for IEEE elective and appointive offices to the IEEE N&A Committee Financial Support Any financial support required shall be provided through the budgetary processes of the EAB* Administrative support shall be provided by the EAD 1/17/2019

EAB Nominations & Appointments Charter EAB Voting Membership Appointments Appointments of EAB voting membership are made by the Chair of EAB in consultation with the EAB N&A Committee Voting membership of EAB shall be annually submitted to the IEEE Board of Directors for affirmation and shall represent a balance of experience and knowledge of industry, government and academe Appointments made by the Chair of EAB, in consultation with the EAB N&A Committee include: EAB Committee Chairs Liaison Representatives EAB Committee members 1/17/2019

EAB Nominations & Appointments Process Candidates for EAB Positions EAB N&A Committee is responsible for seeking out, and recommending to the Chair of EAB, candidates for Chairs of EAB Committees and other EAB positions, excluding the position of Chair of N&A Criteria for Nominees EAB N&A Committee should consider the following criteria for nominees for EAB positions: Experience, or high-level of interest in education Record of being an active volunteer and contributor Willingness to serve High skills level or interest expressed in area needed by the EAB position 1/17/2019

EAB Nominations & Appointments Process Candidates for Vice President, Educational Activities (VP-EA) per EAB Operations Manual Recommendations for VP-EA, along with appropriate biographical information and candidate statement, shall normally be presented to the EAB for vote at its second face-to-face EAB meeting of the year Immediately following the EAB meeting, the EAB N&A Chair shall submit to the IEEE N&A Committee a slate of candidates for VP-EA, as endorsed by the EAB 1/17/2019

EAB Nominations & Appointments Process In 2012 and 2013, the following happened: Corporate Process Changed March – Corporate received VP candidate nominations May – Corporate received VP Candidate submission of biographical materials/position statements June - VP-EA Candidate nominations were reviewed by EAB N&A June - EAB N&A presented recommended candidates for VP-EA to EAB July – EAB N&A Committee Chair provided names of recommended candidates to IEEE N&A Committee 1/17/2019

EAB Nominations & Appointments Process (cont’d) September – IEEE N&A meets and recommends candidates to IEEE Assembly October – If conditions are met, candidate(s) may successfully petition to be considered for VP-EA April – Deadline for receipt by Corporate of nominations for Committee Chairs July – Deadline for Committee Chair Candidates to submit biographical materials/position statements August – Candidate names/materials received by EAB N&A 1/17/2019

Proposed EAB Nominations & Appointments Process for 2014 November - EAB Operations Manual to be updated to follow Corporate process for nominating candidates for VP- EA April – EAB Issues Call for Nomination for EAB Treasurer, Committee Chairs and Committee members July – Deadline for receipt of candidate names/bios/ statements for all EAB positions (Treasurer, Committee Chairs, Committee members) September – EAB N&A face-to-face meeting November – Recommendations to VP-EA 1/17/2019

Proposed EAB Nominations & Appointments Process Revised Process takes effect in 2014 for 2015 EAB 1/17/2019
