Overview of FISDL Program Reduce Aviation Accidents which have Weather as a Contributing Factor, hereby improving Aviation Safety. Develop/Deploy a Nationwide (VDL Mode 2) Terrestrial Network for Flight Information Services. Basic (Textual) to Users, FREE of Charge Value Added (Graphical) Products, chargeable.

Datalink Weather Progress in 2002 VDL Mode 2 Network VDL Mode 2 Radio Commercial Operations began on January 7th, 2002. Continuous Broadcast of the following Weather Products : TEXTUAL : METARs, SPECIs, TAFs, PIREPs GRAPHICAL : Nationwide NexRAD (4Km) METARs (1300+ locations) Overlay METARs on Moving Map Deployment of 50% of Nationwide Network, (120+ sites) Largest Installed Cockpit Datalink Weather subscriber base. IHAS 5000

Datalink Weather Plans for 2003 Demonstrate Improved Aviation Safety, reduction in Weather Related Accidents. Complete Deployment of Nationwide Network (~200 ground stations). Introduce Additional Products to Network. Introduction of both Textual and Graphical Products Introduce FREE Products : SIGMETs/CSIGMETs/AIRMETs/AWW Increase Display Options
