Characterization—Utilize the handout. Nel Sula What does Morrison say about Nel? What can we infer about her characterization? What does Morrison say about Sula? What can we infer about her characterization? Work with a partner to hammer out some characteristics of each girl. Questions to consider: What is their physical description? How are they alike? How are they different? How do they act around boys/men? How do they act around women?

Work on the characterization chart to complete Friday. Re-read through page 66 (the death of Chicken Little). Review the definitions and descriptions of: Historical Criticism / Gender Theory / Archetypal Criticism HOMEWORK
