Lesson 13 Further Exploration and Exploitation of the South Sea (Pedrarias, Espinosa and Magellan) 5 mins Aim: To understand how Spain expanded her growing empire and created more trade routes back to Europe Key Words: Pedrarias and Espinosa = two Conquistadores who consolidated knowledge of the ‘South Seas’ South Seas = the Pacific Ocean Magellan = the first person to circumnavigate the earth. Circumnavigate = to go around, or to sail around the world.
