My social action hero is

what IS poca? P.OC.A. was founded as a way for children with disabilities to receive support as well as their parents. P.O.C.A. was founded by Edelle Canning in 2012. POCA is a voluntary parent-led organisation working with young people with Autism and their families. P.OC.A. was originally founded as an organization but now is a registered charity. P.O.C.A. help between 80-90 young people and their families per week.

what is Their aim? To provide an outlet for children through planned activities and training that will enhance their social skills and friendships. They want to provide the children who utilize their services with the same chances to experience life as any other child. They also cater to the need for a support-network for other families who are facing the same issues as themselves.

Welcome to The reason I chose POCA is it’s a charity close to my own heart I am a member, having been diagnosed as being on the autism spectrum at age 4. Every year, we have POCAfest which is a variety of activities. POCA meet every week on a Friday, normally between 4:15-6pm and it’s a chance for the members and the parents to socialise.
