Old Testament Vows Apart from certain OT obligations like tithes, first fruits, and firstborn sons, many vows were entirely voluntary, free-will, not commanded But all vows, voluntary or not, must be kept!
Laws Concerning Vows Leviticus 27 Redeemable Things (vv. 1-25) People (vv. 1-8) Animals (vv. 9-13) Property (vv. 14-25) Unredeemable Things (vv. 26-34) Firstborn animals (vv. 26-27) Devoted things (vv. 28-29) Tithes (vv. 30-33)
Keep Your Word Vows made must be kept (Num. 30:2) Vows do not have to be made (Deut. 23:21-23) Don’t make rash vows (Lev. 5:4; Prov. 20:25; Eccl. 5:1-7) Don’t change your vow (Lev. 27:10,33) Know that vow-breaking is a sin (Rom. 1:31; 1 Tim. 1:10)

Keep Your Word God keeps his word (Heb. 6:18) … you keep yours! Be a person of truth (Eph. 4:25) Why? Your words will judge you (Mt. 12:36-37)
