MAKERERE UNIVERSITY GRADUATES FLY HIGH

Mak accolades & awards Makerere University, the oldest in East African, has been ranked third in Africa according to the latest World University Rankings (2016-2017). Makerere broke the South African dominance of the top five by coming in third after the University of Cape Town and the University of Witwatersrand. Makerere is then followed by Stellenbosch University and the University of KwaZulu Natal respectively, both of South Africa, while it’s rival in the region, Nairobi University is 19th on the list.

Sex for marks scandals Just recently, Makerere University lecturers and administrators were exposed in a news bulletin as those that take advantage of their students. This is usually when students fail and the lecturers take it as an opportunity to ask for sex in exchange for good examination marks.

Insecurity Even though there's a police station inside Makerere University, there are many insecurities associated with theft and numerous robberies within the university campus. The university students who reside in halls of residences in most case take the law in their hands and carryout mob justice which is consequently against the law

Poor feeding The students in halls of residences often complain of poor feeding, eating half cooked beans and boring types of food like posho. In many instances, they request to be given multiple variety of foods to choose from but all in vain.

DIRTY TOILETS The University has magnificent buildings but however, it becomes alarming when one wants to ease. The toilets of the various faculties are dirty and even when cleaned, they tend to always have the same stench. This is therefore a turn off to many.

CONCLUSION WE BUILD FOR THE FUTURE The mighty ivory tower (Makerere University) amidst all it’s challenges has managed to fly higher beyond skies. It continues to beat many other universities and higher institutions of learning. It has always and will always maintain it’s high standard. WE BUILD FOR THE FUTURE
