Blackout Poetry Step 1: Skim, DO NOT READ, the page for words you find interesting (anchor words) and circle them with a pencil. Step 2: After circling your anchor words, go back and circle words that connect them together. Step 3: Read your poem to make sure it flows well Step 4: Cross out the lines and words that are not circled. Then erase pencil circled words and circle them with a marker or colored pencil. Step 5: Write a title for your poem at the top. Poems can be black and white or colorful!
