S1 Musicals Research Task Learning Intentions 1. You will learn about different types of musicals. 2. You will research and scan information and present your findings in your own words. No plagiarism! (No copying and pasting information from the internet). Success Criteria: You will create a nicely designed, 6 slide PowerPoint presentation which includes images, as follows: Slide 1: Title Slide – S1 Musicals Research Slide 2: Jukebox Musical Slide 3: Drama Musical Slide 4: Musical Comedy Slide 5: Pop/RockMusical Slide 6: Film Musical 2. You will be able to describe the features of different types of musicals and give examples of musicals which fall into these categories.

Composer: Bob Gaudio Lyricist: Bob Crewe Help! Search the internet: go to www.broadwaymusicalhome.com On the home page, scroll down to Find A Show By Type Slide 2: Search for Jukebox Select one example of a Jukebox musical Briefly describe the storyline. Provide the names of the composer/lyricist. Name some of the songs featured. If it has received an award(s), mention this/these. (Cont for other slides) Example Composer: Bob Gaudio Lyricist: Bob Crewe This musical is an example of a well loved Jukebox musical. It features a 1960s soundtrack, based on the songs of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons. It follows the story of 4 young men from New Jersey who are trying to make it big as singers. As the band gets more and more successful they begin to find that they struggle with fame and all sorts of problems begin to affect their lives. Songs include: Big Girls Don’t Cry, Workin’ My Way Back to You, Sherry Awards include: 2006 Tony Awards Best Musical, Best Actor in a Musical, Best Lighting Design of a Musical. Jersey Boys
