Student Performance Category NYSED is working toward determining the best way to fully implement Common Core and State testing While they do that, all NYS school districts fall within what is called the transition period (2016-17 through 2018-19) for the next four years During this time, any 3-8 ELA and Math State tests cannot be used toward teacher evaluation Subsequently, an alternative measure must be in place to yield a Student Performance Score This is being referred to as a Transition Score

Student Performance Category Teacher Transition Score Grade 8 Science SLO based on Grade 8 NYS Science assessment Regents Courses SLO based on Regents exam NYSAA SLO based on NYSAA NYSESLAT SLO based on NYSESLAT All Others Under New APPR Overall percentage of students achieving 65% or above on the 5 major Regents exams required for graduation (ELA, Global, U.S. History, Living Environment, Algebra) Highly Effective Effective Developing Ineffective 90-100% 75-89% 60-74% 0-59%
