WHAT IS A REGION? A region is an area which has similar characteristics or features that can be sorted.. For example: Landforms Climate Vegetation Soil Human Activity

Canada is such a large and diverse country, that detailed organization of information is needed. One way that geographers organize this information is by creating regions.

WHAT IS AN ECOZONE? Ecozones are large regions where living things such as, people and the physical environment work together as a system. The study of ecozones looks at how human activities interact with the natural environment within a particular region.

WHY ARE ECOZONES CREATED? Ecozones are used to study the interaction between human activities and the natural environment within a particular region. There are both terrestrial (land) and maritime (water) ecozones. For our study, we will be focusing on the terrestrial ecozones.

WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT? Ecozones help us with: Where to build cities Transportation routes Agriculture (growing seasons, soil types, drainage, etc.) …and much more!
