1st International Music Olympiad in Tallinn 2012

The 1st International Music Olympiad Tallinn 2012 took place 25-29 of April 2012. Participants where divided into two age groups: Group I - aged 12-14, and Group II - aged 15-18. The contestants where students of comprehensive lower and upper secondary schools or music schools. 21 participant from 6 countries took part in the event: they represented Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland Slovenia. The Olympiad consisted of three parts. Part I 1. Music listening and theoretical questions related to the piece. 2. Singing/playing (on their own instrument) a simple melody; clapping a rhythm exercise.

Part II – Performing a song.

Part III – Original composition.

The results of the Olympiad were assessed by an international jury of 10 members.

Concerts of the best musical groups of Estonia enriched the event very much, as well as common musicianship of all the participants and their national programs presented.
