Principles of Teaching MODULE 3 Principles of Teaching

A. Principle Defined Coined from the Latin word “princeps” which means beginning or end of all things. Fundamental Laws Comprehensible Law or doctrine Rule for guiding the ship of education Chief guides to make teaching and learning effective and productive Important for the governing and operation of techniques in any field of education. If accepted, these are ways to guides ones thinking and activities. In the field of education, an accepted principle becomes ones philosophy- educational aims, activities, practices and outcomes.

Principles of Teaching Derived From Opinions of experts Research Comparative studies of the teaching performance of capable and incapable teachers Experimental studies of teaching and learning in the classroom. Results of experiments Critically analyzed experience or systematic investigation

B. Types of Teaching Principles STARTING PRINCIPLES- These involve the nature of the learner and his psychological and physiological endowments which make education possible. GUIDING PRINCIPLES- These refers to the procedure, methods or strategies of instruction, agglomeration of techniques which help the teachers and learners accomplish the goals or objectives of education. ENDING PRINCIPLES- These refer to the educational aims, goals, objectives, outcomes or results of the whole educational scheme to which teaching and learning are directed.
