Mentoring Science Teachers

Legislation Credited program – continual teachers study 25 credits 150 teachers from 48 schools

Design of trainings 110 lessons, duration of 1 year, meetings twice a month. Lectures, workshops, discussions, analyzing of open lessons.

Part 1 Theory background Practical part development of science education and clarification of approach changes in time, constructivistic concepts, working with children’s previous knowledge, algorithm in a proces of getting to know the surrounding world, principles of IBSE. Practical part creating of stimulating situations, pointing out on an importance of surrounding environment and teachers questions, practical activities with designed topics, problematics of using suitable equipment and tools, preparation of a guide for a student, open lesson visit.

Part 2 Open lessons: Outcomes: 3 open lessons, visit 3 open lessons of a colleague, discussions afterwards. Outcomes: inspiration, seeing variety, elimination of uncertainty, creates cooperation among teachers,
