The European Forum for Geostatistics www.efgs.info The European Forum for Geostatistics Presentation of EFGS Report on the 2010 meeting in Tallinn Outlook to the 2011 meeting in Lisboa Report from the UN CES seminar on spatial statistics Session 5: Dissemination The title of the conference: “Creating a knowledge base for successful cities and regions...” presupposes that users play main role in this topic, because any knowledge base should be built for them, to satisfy their needs, their requests, to answer their questions. Dissemination thus plays two roles in creation a knowledge base – as an input when collecting requests, questions, demands, and as a tool when providing product (i.e. knowledge base) to users. When speaking about dissemination of a knowledge base we should concentrate on these questions: Who are our users, what are their needs, how can we collect them? What is user’s role during process of creating of a knowledge base? How can we disseminate a knowledge base? How to communicate metadata? Papers to be presented at this session should describe the experiences and best practices in the above mentioned areas.
