SDG indicators and MICS Global indicators: ~230+ Household survey indicators: ~69 MICS SDG indicators: ~33 MICS indicators: ~248 The numbers above are near perfect estimates, but are constantly slightly updated, as SDG indicators become defined in detail. About half of SDG indicators included in MICS are not under UN custodianship of UNICEF – Custod/Joint/Addit.: 10/7/5. MICS is global good. The list of MICS indicators includes internationally agreed and defined indicators, as well as priority indicators of UNICEF or partners, tracked for progress. Country indicators, when outside the standard list, will be included. Country adaptations are a key part of tool customisations and includes non-standard modules and questions (if validated methodology exists).
MICS indicators SDG DISAGGREGATES AGE SEX WEALTH DISABILITY ETHNICITY MIGRATION SEX GEO LOCATION/ CODE All MICS indicators are disaggregated, where relevant, by wealth quintiles, sex, age, ethnicity, migratory status, disability and geographic location (as per the reporting domains), or other characteristics, as recommended by the Inter-agency Expert Group on SDG Indicators: http://unstats.un.org/sdgs/indicators/Official%20List%20of%20Proposed%20SDG%20Indicators.pdf Disaggregation is also done by any additional tabulation specific disaggregate. Others are of course possible, depending on survey-specific needs. Note on Wealth: Based on customised wealth index. Disability: Strength and limitations of adult functioning module, as well as those of the child functioning modules. Ethnicity: Of head of household. Socio-cultural grouping possible. Migration: Changes are bound to happen to this disaggregate and to recommended customisation depending on country context and sample design. “Geocoding”: Every household and individual has geographic domain and location available, as per sample design stratification. However,: in MICS6, wealth and location is combined into a standard disaggregate of “urban poor” and, if sample design allows, additional domains can be tabulated, such as slums/informal settlements, peri-urban areas, etc. and MICS6 has additional focus on geocoding, in the sense of a strong recommendation for each cluster sampled to have geocodes available, either from digital census cartography or collected through preferably the listing activity.
