My View: I don’t think it’s appropriate for this to be marketed to children. Although, I do understand that it may be helpful if the child's mom is pregnant it may help the child deal with it better. But, to have a Barbie that you can take the stomach off and there is a baby in there for the child to take out, is just insane to me! To me this image marginalizes women who can’t or choose not to have children, while validating women who can and do have children because it’s seen as beautiful and necessary. View of one European American Male: “I’m lost for words really. I’m not horrified by it, but it’s Just creepy. Not offended, but It can be somewhat questionable. It looks to play subconsciously into a fixed role for women or desensitizing the image of young women getting pregnant way too early.” View of one African American female: “They shouldn’t have a pregnant Barbie. It’s going to tell kids it’s okay to get pregnant early. It’s going to make them ask questions before they should, like how a baby get in there. I wouldn’t buy that for nobody!” View of 61 year old European American Female: “It’s a pregnant Barbie. I think it’s ridiculous. It’s too advanced for little girls. Is this really on the market? Did she get married first?
