About G.A.A The Gaelic Athletic Association is an Irish international amateur sporting and cultural organisation The association also promotes Irish dancing and cultural music. It has more than 500,000 members worldwide. Gaelic Football and hurling are the most promoted sports in Ireland in the organisation Since its foundation in the late 19th century, the association has grown to become a major influence in Irish sporting and cultural life. Hurling Hurling is an outdoor team game of ancient Gaelic and Irish origin and is the fastest field sport in the world. It is also played on a pitch of fifteen players. A good strike with a hurley can propel the ball over 150 km/h (93 mph) in speed and 110 metres (361 ft) in distance. Bob Hurley invented the Hurley so that is why it is named after him Hurling is the oldest sport in the world which has been played for over 3,000 years
