VISSIT

Expanded Core Curriculum VISSIT is developed around the 9 areas of ECC Compensatory Skills Assistive Technology Social Interaction skills Career Education Sensory Efficiency Skills Recreation/Leisure Skills Orientation & Mobility Self Determination

Use of VISSIT VISSIT helps determine recommended amount and frequency of TVI instructional services Services defined as: direct intervention from TVI collaborative consultation from TVI with others in student’s educational team VISSIT does not address the overall work load of the TVI: Travel Planning Material preparation

VISSIT Form 3 Columns on form ECC Skill Area Direct Instruction from TVI Educational Team & Family Support Collaboration Values Used to Score form: 0= no need (no need at this time) 1= low need (occasional support and maintenance of skills) 4= medium need (needs skills but lower priority, generalization and fluency development) 7= high need (priority- complete mastery of introduced skills) 10= intense need (acquisition of new skills)

VISSIT Form 2 Services Direct intervention from TVI Collaborative consultation 2 Contributing Services Significant Transition (changes in educational setting or instructor) Significant Medical Status or condition (change in vision, accident, medical situation, etc.) Validity and reliability study determined it effective and appropriate as tool for TVIs to use to recommend type and amount of service for their students.

Frequently Asked Questions Can the VISSIT be used for all students on my caseload, including those with multiple impairments and /or those with deafblindness? How about infants? Is the VISSIT to be used as a caseload anaylsis? Can other professionals other than TVIs fill out the VISSIT? How often should the VISSIT be completed? How time consuming is VISSIT?

More Questions & Answers How do I rate intensity of student need? Why do ECC skill areas of Compensatory Skill and Assistive Technology ask for more than 1 estimate of service need?
