People of Palestine Gentiles- Non Jews Essenes- people who went into the desert seeking a pure life Sanhedrin- The supreme council of the Jewish people Pharisees- Jewish people who were know for their love of the Torah Aramaic- language of Jesus spoken in Palestine

Samaritans- People who were avoided and considered heretics Zealots- people who wanted to overthrow Rome with violence Palestine- the country where Jesus lived

Jewish Faith Sabbath- The Jewish day of strict rest Torah- The Law, first 5 books of the Bible Shema- prayer to God prayed in the morning and the evening Temple- local house of prayer for the Jewish people
