Region 4 GOLD News Update New GOLD Coordinator! Diana Vasquez, from Central Indiana Section, taking over as R4 GOLD coordinator The not so good (from last year’s Region 4 meeting) No of GOLD Members 2010: 3158 No of GOLD Members 2011: 2751 A 12.9% decrease The good news (for this year’s Region 4 meeting)! We have increased by nearly 16%! No of GOLD Members in 2012: 3271 Strong emphasis on STEP events (from membership rejuvenation committee report) STEP type events held across R4 in 2012

Region 4 GOLD Goals 2013 Improve communication with active GOLD section chairs Promote membership rejuvenation activities especially STEP programs (at least 1 per section for 2013) Promote joint activities among sections Work with section chairs without GOLD groups to start GOLD AG in their section(s)

IEEE Region 4 Siouxland Section Gold Activity May 2013 Avoiding a Dilbert situation: Leading and Managing in Engineering and Technology The Siouxland Section hosted Gerard "Gus" Gaynor, an IEEE Life Fellow and expert on leadership and management. He talked about how managing and leading engineers may be different than managing other professionals, and that all engineers can benefit from learning leadership skills.
