Meet Tobit Good man Loved God and obeyed his commandments Gave to the poor Had only 1 child - Tobias So I would like you to meet Tobit. He is a very good man that loved God and followed his commandments. He gave what he had to the poor and was kind to everyone. He only had 1 child who was called Tobias. What was his name? Tobias. One day Tobit lost his eyesight, he could not see anymore and because of that he couldn’t go back to his job. Since he didn’t have a job, he didn’t get paid and because he doesn’t get paid Tobit could not support his family. What do you think Tobit did? Lost his eyesight Lost his job

Tobit prayed… Tobit prayed to God. He asked God’s help to provide food and clothing for him and his family. After he finished praying Tobit remembered that once he had given money to a friend that was in need of money. There was a little problem. That friend lived in a far place called MEDIA (show map). Could Tobit go and get the money? No Why? Cause he was blind. Who was the only one that could go? His son Tobias. So Tobit prayed again to God to ask Him how he can get that money because he couldn’t go himself. So He asked God to send him someone to travel with his little son Tobias to that far place called Media.

Tobit was trying to think how Tobias can travel. Before there was no train, airplane, cars nor buses. The only way people would travel is they walk from one place to another. But sometimes the roads were very dangerous there were animals and snakes that could kill.

Tobias will you be able to go get the money? I will do anything you ask me to do Dad! God listened to Tobit’s prayer and sent him someone to accompany him. This person came to the house. Tobit asked his son: Tobias will you be able to get the money? And right away Tobias obeyed his dad and told him: I will do anything you ask me to do Dad. You know kids, Tobias could have been a bad boy and said that he wanted only to play with his games. He could of told his dad that he wanted to stay and that his dad should ask someone else to go cause he was too young to travel. But no Tobias went.

Man told him Man told him many stories about the villages and towns That man that was with Tobias told him many nice stories and also told him about the villages and towns that they would pass by. While they were walking Tobias saw a river. Tobias loves the water. So he ran towards it and suddenly a big fish came out towards him and was almost going to eat him. Tobias got really scared but the man told him that he should not be afraid. He told him to hold out his hands and catch that fish. So Tobias went for it and stretched out his hands and caught the fish. The fish closed it’s mouth and let Tobias grab it. Tobias looked at the man and couldn’t believe how this happened! Tobias then realized that the man with him was not an ordinary man. Who do you think this man was?

Fish gall This man was an angel sent from God to protect Tobias along the way. They both were very happy and cooked the fish and ate. The angel however told him to keep a part from the inside of the fish called gall and put in his bag. He explained to him that he will need it when he goes back home. So they walked to that city called Media and finally got the money. On their way back the angel told him very nice stories about saints and they sang hymns together. Tobias liked the angel so much he wished he could have stayed with him forever. Once Tobias got back home he ran to his dad and did what the angel had told him. The angel told him to take the gall and rub it on his dad’s eyes. What do you think happened? Yes Tobit could finally see again.

What did you learn from Tobias’ story? 1 ? Will ask kids what did you learn from Tobias’ story. Will write down their answers in the power point presentation. Then will tell them that 1- God will protect you- send the guardian angel (God sent an angel for Tobias) 2- He will answer your prayers (God answered Tobit’s prayers) and, 3-He will always take care of you (God sent his angel to tell Tobias to take part of the fish so Tobit can be healed). 2 ? 3 ?

What should we feel and do? 1 ? 2 Will ask kids what did you learn from Tobias’ story. Will write down their answers in the power point presentation. Then I will tell them that 1- We should feel safe, God sends our guardian angel to protect us 2- We should never doubt God always have faith in Him that he will provide us with all the things we need. 3- What we should DO is always ask him for help in anything that we need any time. ? 3 ?
