Take out your human ear diagram! Friday, January 18, 2019 B-Day Objective: YWBAT explain how the human ear works and identify its parts. Drill: What is the function of the outer ear? The bones in the middle ear? The inner ear? Take out your human ear diagram! Homework Finish Lab Analysis

Answer Ear Functions Outer Ear – To collect sound waves and direct them into the ear canal Middle Ear bones – to act as levers to increase the size of vibrations Inner Ear – to convert vibrations into electrical signals for the brain to interpret

Did you know…? The semi-circular canals are located in the inner ear, but they do not contribute to the hearing process. The canals help you keep your balance by allowing you to determine which way is up.

Today’s Activities Drill Ear Drum Drawing Conclusion

Ear Diagrams Diagrams must include the following: Clear drawing of the ear Major parts of the ear must be labeled Functions of the parts of the ear described

Closure Do you think it would be possible to pop the model eardrum you built with a sound? Describe the properties of the sound.
