Week 13 Chapter 06

Inference an idea or conclusion drawn from evidence and reasoning

Making inferences is basically looking at evidence.

An example of making inferences: An American man is wearing a gold ring on the third finger of his left hand.

You can infer that he is likely married.

What can you infer?

What can you infer?

What can you infer? Horrifying More horrifying

What can you infer about this photo? Take 4 minutes and write down all the inferences you can make about this photo. Everyone is dressed for cold weather. This is probably in the winter. She looks upset. She probably knows the man on the ground This man has had too much alcohol. This man probably broke the law. The police look British. This is probably in England.

In Conclusion, Look at the FACTS first What can you guess from the facts? An inference is an educated guess

Check list Any questions? Before doing ‘Inferences’ homework, review pgs 53-55 & 58-59 in Reading book Deadline for all the homework after the midterm is June 7th Any questions?
