Systems of Linear Equations Objective: students will use graphing to find the solution of a linear system.

Information System of linear equation: 2 or more equations same variables Ex: y = 2x + 1 2x – 3y = 6 Solution of linear system: ordered pair answer for both equations To Solve Graph equations Identify common point Note: don’t intersect; NO SOLUTION Note: if same line; MANY SOLUTIONS

Is coordinate a solution to equation? (0, -2) 3x – 2y = 4 -2x – y = -2

Is coordinate a solution to equation? (4,2) Y = -5x + 22 Y = 8x - 30 (-24, -10) X – 4y = 16 -2x + 6y = -12

Find # of solutions Y = 4x + 2 Y = x + 2

Find # of solutions -3x + y = -1 Y = 3x + 4

Find # of solutions 2x + 4y = 8 3x + 6y = 12

Find # of solutions x + y = 3 x – y = -5

Find # of solutions 3x + 2y = 8 y = -3/2x + 4

Find # of solutions Y = 5x - 3 Y = 5x + 2

Find # of solutions Y = -x - 4 y = x + 4
