Mesopotamia Sumer, Egypt, and Israel

Opening Activity Spend the first 10 minutes working on your organizer that was given to you on Friday. We will distribute quizzes shortly

What do we want to study? Compare three regions in terms of: Their language, religion, architecture, and leaders. Identify on a map where these civilizations existed Explain the religion of Judiaism Know its sacred text, leaders, and tradtions.

Where are we going to? We are headed to the Middle East. Areas of the current countries of Egypt, Iraq, Iran, and Israel.

Who were the first inhabitants? Most early pre-history people were nomads, meaning they roamed from place to place The nomads lived during the Paleolithic or Old Stone Age. They roamed around b/c they were looking for food. Once they learned how to grow food, they settled near rivers, created various technology, or tools to help preform better at tasks.

This period is called the Neolithic Period, or New Stone Age.

Rule 229 If a builder builds a house for a man and does not make its construction sound, and the house which he has built collapses and causes the death of the owner of the house, the builder shall be put to death.

Rule #2 If any one bring an accusation against a man, and the accused go to the river and leap into the river, if he sink in the river his accuser shall take possession of his house. But if the river prove that the accused is not guilty, and he escape unhurt, then he who had brought the accusation shall be put to death, while he who leaped into the river shall take possession of the house that had belonged to his accuser
