First Student Presentation Evening Future Day March 1st Friday March 1st in this room CCIS L1-160 from 5-10 pm. With pizza, soft drinks and special guest appearance in addition to six student presentations. Music by Joel Crichton at beginning and end of night. There are fifteen graded students now. Seven will present on March 1st, eight on April 11th. 3000 word paper will be due April 4th. Second student presentation evening April 11th.

Otherwise don’t change a thing.” Lesley Cormack “Another good presentation, although the overarching principles here need more discussion: How do emerging populations integrate technology? Why do we consider these singularity topics? What lessons can we learn from our own history to apply to situations like these? Where is their gold rush? Their space race? ”

Student Feedback from Fall 2012 Kim Solez “More material that ties into popular conceptions of medical singularities, i.e. where are we are on a timeline of technological development, new treatments coming out (that aren't popularized outside of mainstream medicine), etc. ”

Need technology skeptics as well as technology advocates. While in some publications we will be able to focus on the Singularity, in prestigeous high profile journals a more balanced approach is needed. In the real world all the way from corporate board rooms to fine parties, we need to command the whole spectrum from karma and the cyclical life to the technological Singularity.

The LABMP 590 course aims for diversity and balance. It is useful to be able to look at everything through the Singularity lens. It is equally useful to also have a good handle on the alternative ways of looking at things, and being able to craft talking points that work for all audiences and situations.
