Opinion Essay Checklist Introduction Paragraph (First Paragraph) Does my first sentence grab the reader’s attention? Did I restate the question I was asked (located on the blog)? Do I mention at least 3 reasons for my opinion?   Body Paragraphs (Middle Paragraphs) Did I use the R.A.C.E.S. strategy for each paragraph? Did I cite evidence from the articles or websites? Did I mention the name of each website or article? Did I explain EACH PIECE OF EVIDENCE I used? Did I use transition words and evidence-based terms? (Example: The text mentions…) Conclusion Paragraph (Last Paragraph) Does this paragraph remind my reader of the points I’m trying to make? Did I repeat my points in a NEW way? Did I find an interesting way to sum up what I’m saying? General (Throughout the whole essay) Do my sentences make sense? Did I capitalize at the beginning of sentences? Did I put punctuation at the end of each sentence? Did I spell words correctly, especially the ones that were in the websites or articles? Is my essay convincing?
