Vocabulary Words: Demean Bigotry Cultivate (nothing to do with farming) Sanction Persecution Stake (not the wooden kind/not a pole thingy) Redemption Reconciliation

Definitions: Demean – verb – cause a severe loss in the dignity of and respect for (someone or something). Bigotry – noun -- intolerance toward those who hold different opinions from oneself. Cultivate – verb -- try to acquire or develop (a quality, sentiment, or skill).

Definitions: Sanction – noun -- official permission or approval for an action. Persecution – noun -- hostility and ill-treatment, especially because of race or political or religious beliefs. Stake – noun -- a share in something or an emotional investment in something
