Presentation transcript:

Power to turn an unbeliever into a believer Saul alone “heard a voice” (9:4; 22:9; cf. Rom. 10:17) Saul heard the risen Lord, “I am Jesus” (9:5; cf. Matt. 17:5) Saul asked, “What shall I do, Lord?” (9:6; 22:10; cf. Jas. 4:7) How do we know Saul submitted? (cf. Jas. 2:17-18) Went from “journeying” to being “led by the hand” (9:3,8; cf. Jer. 10:23) “Arise and go into Damascus” (22:10). “I came into Damascus” (22:11). Have you made the transition to submission? But, is that enough?

Power to turn a terrorist into a trembler Saul “thought [he] must do many things contrary to the name of Jesus” (26:9) So, he went about wreaking “havoc” on the church (Acts 8:3) So, he went about “persecuting this Way to the death” (22:4) How do we know Saul became contrite? (cf. Isa. 66:2) For “three days,” he “neither ate nor drank” (9:9) “For behold, he is praying” (9:11) Have you made the transition to contrition? But, is that enough?

Power to turn a sinner into a saint Saul identified himself as the “chief” of sinners (1 Tim. 1:15) Ananias preached the gospel to Saul (Rom. 1:16; 1 Cor. 15:1-4) Ananias spoke of “the Lord Jesus, who appeared on the road” (9:17) How do we know Saul was saved? Ananias said, “Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins” (22:16) Saul “arose and was baptized” (9:18) Jesus’ resurrection gives baptism power to save from sins (1 Pet. 3:21) Have you been saved? But, is that enough?

Power to turn a persecutor into a preacher Saul had been a “blasphemer” (1 Tim. 1:13) Saul had been “breathing threats and murder” (9:1) How do we know Saul was transformed? “Immediately he preached Jesus…that He is the Son of God” (9:20) Saul preached Jesus to Jews and Gentiles (26:19-23) Saul gave up all he was and all he had for Christ (Phil. 3:4-11) Have you been transformed? (Rom. 6:3-4)

Have you come to believe Jesus is God’s Son? – John 3:16 Has the power of His resurrection brought about Submission, Contrition, Salvation & Transformation in your life? Have you come to believe Jesus is God’s Son? – John 3:16 Have you repented of your sins? – Acts 3:19 Have you confessed your faith in Jesus – Rom. 10:9 Have you been immersed into Christ? – Mark 16:16 So that God can forgive all of your sins – Acts 22:16 So that God can add you to His church – Acts 2:47 So that God can enroll you in heaven – Hebrews 12:23 Have you been living faithfully? – Rev. 2:10
