Lesson Aim To understand the impacts of Social networking and how to use these sites safely. Esafety The Internet has become an integral part of our lives, enabling us to talk to friends and access information from around the world. With its increasing ease of access and increase in popularity amongst the younger generation, it is important that we learn how to stay safe.

Starter Task Terms and Conditions “By posting User Content to any part of the Site, you automatically grant … the Company … to use, copy, … and distribute such User Content for any purpose ….” Where do you think this quote is from? What do you think it means?

Answers Where do you think this quote is from? What do you think it means? Whatever you post, a status, a picture, a video ANYTHING, you automatically give permission for Facebook to use it, copy it, show it or send it to ANYONE in the world for ANY REASON.

Esafety Social Networking websites like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram are now very popular amongst young people. They allow you to share information and pictures with your friends and family. Most of us use these websites in sensible and mature manor, but they can also cause problems. Social networking websites are defined as: “websites that focus on building and reflecting social network or social relationships among people.”

MAIN Task Your task is to look at the Facebook page saved in Miss Kenyon’s folder and fill in the worksheet. You will need to list 10 things you can find out about Joe Bloggs and why you think they could be a safety issue. This is a typical facebook page, which most of you will be familiar with, so remember you all include this type of information on your own profiles.
