Purpose and Outcomes Water is a crucial factor of environment policy; it is a vulnerable and exhaustible resource (sensitive indicator). Frequent natural catastrophes – floods and droughts. Influence of climate change on water resources. Conference seeks to promote scientific exchange between US and EU researches and graduate students. Synthesis of existing knowledge, identification of gaps in current knowledge and future research needs. Explicit comparisons of water policy issues and current approaches to their resolution (in Europe and in the US). Increased sharing of curricula, student exchanges and enhanced student experiences. One (or several) publications of conference papers.
I believe we should have another Conference in Europe in 2008 or 2009. If yes, how could the dialogue between US and EU research workers be enhanced at a future conference? Answers: (47 responses) We need to formulate concrete JOINT projects. Perhaps have some round table sessions to discuss specific topics There should be less parallel sessions to be able to join more presentations. To encourage cross comparison. Focus on comparing and contrasting the approaches. Closer comparison of US-EU is needed. Short workshops, joint social event.
