“The Amazing, Razor-Blade Car Machine Created by Seth Miller and Dan Brown

The Team Dan Brown Seth Miller Electrical Engineer Hershey , PA Mechanical Engineer Murfreesboro, TN

Description Materials used Main Purpose Wood, Fishing line, Hot Wheels Car, Razor Blade, Dominoes, 50 gram Weight Main Purpose To make the baseball roll off the table

Description cont. Sequence of Events Dominoes collide into car Car rolls down ramp and cuts fishing line See-Saw releases weight Dominoes collapse and hit baseball, setting it into motion

Demonstration

Energy Conversions Step 1 – Domino Sequence Conservation of Momentum Step 2 – Car rolling down ramp Conservation of Energy Step 3 – See-Saw releases weight which hits dominoes Conservation of Energy and Conservation of Momentum Step 4 – Dominoes collide with ball

Conclusions Problems during building process We learned….. Designing the ramp so the razor blade wouldn’t hit the bottom of the track Efficient testing because retying the fishing line took a lot of time Domino setup at the end… wouldn’t set ball into motion We learned….. Names are hard
