Toxic Shock Syndrome Sarah Balderas

What is Toxic Shock Syndrome and what causes it? Serious but uncommon bacterial infection caused by Staphylococcus aureus or by streptococcus bacteria. Common with women using tampons during menstraution Staphylococcus Aureus sometimes give off a toxin.

How do I know if I have TSS? High fever, vomiting, diarrhea, sun burn like rashes, dizziness or fainting.

What should I do if I get TSS and is it curable? REMOVE IT IMMEDIATELY Contact your doctor Treatable with antibiotics

How can I reduce my chance of getting TSS? Lower absorbency or size that meets your menstrual flow needs. Use tampons correctly. Use a pad!
